Small by design

We're a small, senior team — and we intend to stay that way. Every project gets experienced engineers who have designed, built and deployed production systems in demanding environments. You deal with the people doing the work: direct communication, no hand-offs to a junior bench.

That shape suits the work we take on. Software that has to work — on a plant floor, in a production process, in someone's family life — rewards experience, care and accountability more than headcount.

Twenty years of software that has to work

MLJ Systems has been trading for over twenty years. In that time the environments have changed — steelworks, green hydrogen, enterprise systems, consumer apps — but the engineering standard hasn't. Our longest client relationships span decades, and so do some of the systems we've built.

Today our work with Tata Steel includes the transition to Electric Arc Furnace steelmaking at Port Talbot, one of the UK's most significant industrial decarbonisation projects.

Our own products

We build our own software too — including Harbour, our co-parenting app. Shipping and running our own consumer product keeps us honest: we know first-hand what it takes to design, release and support software people rely on every day, not just build it for others.
